If you’re anything like me, your makeup look isn’t just determined by your outfit or the occasion. It can also be guided by your mood or maybe even how you want to feel. In fact, makeup is a great form of self-expression, and I’ve been busy doing just that with the all-new Clarins Lip Comfort Oil. 1. Calm & Collected: 01 – Honey
Sometimes, you can’t beat a ‘less-is-more’ makeup look, especially when you want to subtly enhance your natural self as you go about your day or you’re relaxing in the evening. For these times, Honey is a must. Although it looks like gooey golden honey in its pot, it actually applies to offer a clear, non-tinted finish, so it’s perfect for when you want more of an understated look to reflect your calm, laidback side. As an added benefit, this shade can be used as a nourishing overnight lip treatment; simply pop it on before bed to wake up to soft, supple and smooth skin.
2. Content: 02 – Raspberry
For me, the Raspberry Lip Oil is one of the more subtle lip-enhancing shades. Its delicate pink hue adds a gorgeous sheen of colour that complements your natural lip colour, so it’s excellent for those happy days when you’re content with life and you want your makeup to enhance, not mask, while still allowing you to enjoy the fun of a pretty tinted lip oil. And, of course, knowing that your lips are protected, hydrated and conditioned as you wear the oil will only help to put a smile on your face!
3. Confident: 03 – Cherry
For many of us, nothing quite says confidence like a red lip! Adding a sweep of red can boost our confidence and complete our makeup look in seconds.
But I’ll admit that as much as I love the idea of a red lip, that doesn’t mean that every red lipstick suits me. But that’s what I love most about the Clarins Cherry Lip Oil; it doesn’t have full-on lipstick colour, so it’s much more likely to suit a range of skin tones and undertones due to its sheer red, mirror-like finish. Plus, it’s pH-reactive, so it adapts to your lips for a personalised red lip look.
4. Romantic: 04 – Pitaya
I’ve picked the Clarins Pitaya Lip Oil for those days when you’re feeling romantic as it has a pretty, joyful pink hue made for coffee dates and strolls through the park. Its pH-reactive formula is perhaps the brightest pink in the line-up, meaning that it has a charming, romantic feel to it while it still adapts to your skin to ensure maximum wearability in a shade that’s very you.
5. Adventurous: 05 – Apricot
I personally love coral or orange-tinted lip colours, but that’s not to say they’re the most commonly worn lip gloss shades. For this reason, I’m picking 05 – Apricot as the shade to wear when you’re feeling adventurous.
If you’re used to wearing more nude or pink-toned lip colours, this is the one to go for if you want to push the boat out and try something new. It has a lovely orange tint without making too much of a statement due to its pH-reactive nature for made-to-measure colour. I love to opt for coral or tangerine shades as soon as the weather starts to pick up too, so what better lip oil to choose for your next summer adventure?
6. Playful: 08 – Strawberry
Yet another pH-reactive lip oil in the collection of Clarins Lip Oils, the Strawberry shade is my go-to shade for when you’re embracing your fun-loving side. It’s the shade that will appeal to lovers of both pink and red lip colours as it sits carefully in between both tones, so it can mimic the playful side of pretty pinks. But at the same time, it borrows a touch of confidence from red lip hues, which is exactly what you need when you’re feeling playful.
7. Mysterious: 09 – Chocolate
I’d recommend the Chocolate shade for those times when you want to create an air of mystery. This oil looks bold and rich in its tube but transforms into a buildable sheer tone when applied; it’ll surprise those around you when they see just how wearable and adaptable it is! And yes, this shade is just as addictive as its edible namesake!
8. Flirty: 10 – Plum
If you’re feeling a little flirty, then my top recommendation is the Plum shade. It’s as dark, deep and sultry as it gets, but it’s still really wearable as it’s one of the pH-reactive shades. I tend to go for more subtle, peachy-pink lip colours, but I’d wear this as you can build it up to create your desired effect. Add just a touch and blend out for a more understated flirty look or go all out by adding a strong swipe of colour for a bold, sexy finish. If you want to ramp up the drama, you can wear the pout-plumping Lip Comfort Oil over your lipstick for a juicy, kissable result.
