Once upon a time, four centuries ago, in India, there was a love that knew no bounds. For his beloved wife, the princess Mumtaz Mahal, the emperor Shah Jahan ordered the creation of the most luxurious gardens of Shalimar as a setting for their love. Later, he erected the Taj Mahal, a marvel admired by the entire world. This fabulous story inspired Jacques Guerlain to create an exquisitely seductive scent, the world’s very first oriental fragrance: Shalimar.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rk00 from Light and Airy fragrance. I have the complete Shalimar fragrance collection and wanted to try the newest addition to the family. The fragrance does not disappoint like all Guerlain fragrances, but this one does not share any of the DNA of the original Shalimar .Even Shalimar Philtre has some of the original DNA It is lemon. iris and vanilla based ,and not overpowering perfectly wearable any time of day. It turns into more of a skin scent after few hours. Even though I like this fragrance ,I think it lacks character and does not belong in the Shalimar family.it has been created to appeal to younger noses .I hope Guerlain does not go down the route of over modernising their fragrances. It would be an absolute shame.
