Mason Pearson Brushes

The name Mason Pearson is synonymous with luxury, artisanship, and excellence. The Mason Pearson collection of brushes has long been associated with innovation in the manufacturing of quality, hand-made hairbrushes.

Their unique pneumatic rubber-cushion pad, made by hand using Mason Pearson's original techniques, allows for effective and efficient brushing. It is kind to use and massages the scalp.

The cellulose plastic handle is hand-polished and any sharp edges are removed to make the hairbrush more comfortable to hold.

The Pure Bristle Headed Brushes are ideal for fine to normal hair. The Bristle and Nylon Mixture Brushes are for normal to thick hair. The Nylon Brushes for very thick or coarse hair.

Engineer and inventor Mason Pearson moved from Yorkshire to London during the mid 1860's to work at a small brush making organisation, the British Steam Brush Works. Mason Pearson progressed in his role, and that same company would later become Raper Pearson and Gill.

The brushes were made by hand until 1885, when Pearson invented an automatic brush-boring machine that would speed up the whole process of brushmaking. Mason Pearson went on to win the Silver Medal at the International Inventions Exhibition in London for his creation. The same year saw him invent the pneumatic rubber-cushion hairbrush, and this is a design that is still in use today. It took until 1905 to improve his technique, much of which was still required to be done by hand.

To this day the design of the Mason Pearson brush remains true to the original design. The Mason Pearson brand is a testament to innovation, quality and engineering, and they draw from their 125 year history to produce a product so good, it's timeless.
