20.15% Off Sale: Fragrance Picks

Fragrance Sale

Thomas Signature

If there’s anything I love more on this planet than perfume, it’s perfume at a discount.  Perfume is a luxury and it’s not something one can always splash out on, so when someone like Escentual comes along with a handsome 20.15% off to celebrate Christmas and the ringing in of the new year, well, it’s pretty difficult to resist.

I’m always up for celebrating a discount, so to aid you in wading through the many wonderful treats in the Escentual sale, I’ve put together a little guide of what my greedy eyes are fixed on during the discount period.  Here you’ll find ideas on topping up on old favourites, trying something entirely new and even splashing out on a fragrance that is quite special indeed.  No need to count the pennies this time, as Escentual has us covered!

Topping Up

Replenish an old favourite

When the discount codes are abound, it’s a good time to top up on those beloved perfumes that are teetering on the edge of running out.  Believe it or not, I do often run out of some of my favourites and when it’s a fragrance that I love, it’s always easy to decide to stock up on an old fave over picking out something new.

One fragrance of mine that is currently running dangerously low is Gucci Rush. Yes, I know, the ‘90s called and they want their fragrance back, but c’mon, how can you not like Rush?  This is a vivacious fragrance that presents a cacophony of olfactory noise, from surreal flowers crafted out of clingfilm to sweet milk, poppers and hair spray.  Rush is a classic and it would be utterly criminal for me to run out, so in advance, thank you to Escentual for that handy 20.15% off!

Other things to top up on; Guerlain Insolence Eau de Toilette, Dior Poison and Etat Libre d’Orange Jasmine et Cigarette.

Trying Something New

Fresh, new and exciting

I’m going to do something a little bit unheard of here and pick out a fragrance that I’ve not tried before.  The reason why I’m being a bit renegade so close to Christmas is down to the fact that, when there’s money off, it’s always a good opportunity to try something that one has never sniffed before, but has always wanted to.  Us perfume geeks call this the ‘blind buy’, and whilst it make for a risky purchase, the blind buy can be quite thrilling too.

So, seeing as there is 20.15% off, I’d like to test out Marni Rose, the flanker to the delightful Marni Eau de Parfum.  This one is reportedly a more rosy interpretation of Marni that boasts strong rose and violet notes.  That all sounds pretty wonderful to me (there’s nothing better than rose and violet, IMHO) and seeing as Escentual are currently offering a cute little 10ml spray in the sale, well, it would be rude not to, wouldn’t it?

Other new things to try; Donna Karan Woman, Annick Goutal Passion and Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile.

Lusting After

What you really want

Of course, when there’s a 20.15% discount on offer, one is often temped to splash out on something really special – something pricy!  The great thing about Escentual is that they stock a diverse range of fragrances from a plethora of houses.  So, one can find something beautiful and affordable, but also something more unusual that sits within a higher price range.  Either way, there’s plenty for everyone.

For me that something pricy would be Opus VI by Amouage.  Like most Amouage fragrances, Opus VI sits within the upper echelon of perfume pricing, and rightly so, Amouage does equal quality after all, and it’s one of their finest scents.  Taking the incredibly familiar idea of amber (an accord that blends benzoin, labdanum and vanilla), Opus VI feels almost dark and bitter, with chocolate underpinnings.  This is a weightless amber that twists in and out of transparency with a signature that is both present and guarded.  It’s Amouage’s most intriguing work and I want it to be mine!

Other things to lust after: Etat Libre d’Orange The Afternoon of a Faun, Guerlain L’Heure Bleue Extrait and Jean Patou Joy Forever.
