A More Perfect Complexion.. Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation

My new fixation is a foundation innovation from Clarins named Skin Illusion, a formulation that aims to boost natural radiance and provide a ‘second skin-like’ feel that is both long-lasting with impressive coverage. I have every facial complaint in the book – an uneven complexion, lots of dry patches, an oily t-zone, dark circles… I could go on. Despite my need for coverage, I hate wearing really dense formulations, so Skin Illusion is right up my street!

Super dewy and fresh as a daisy, Skin Illusion is a sheer, ultra-supple formulation that melts onto the skin beautifully. Its secret lies in a radiance boosting dose of Pink Opal Powder, perfectly smooth microbeads of mineral silicon from Brazil that not only fill and smooth fine lines, but also infuse a subtle opalescent glow. This soft focus effect is extremely flattering to both dry skins types and those who want an anti-ageing effect. Skin is left looking and feeling smooth, supple and glowing.

The medium coverage of the foundation provides a flawlessness that – had I not have seen the results for myself – I would have found hard to believe in such a sheer formulation. It’s a practically butter-like softness that blends like a dream and doesn’t settle into fine lines. A plant-based micro-patch of Brown Algae and Acacia Gum creates a protective film over the skin’s surface that seals in essential moisture, and then preserves that moisture to be continually and gradually released throughout the day. This is great for those whose make-up that is perfect in the morning, and is then made flaky and rough by heaters by late afternoon.

Another skin-loving ingredient is Pink Algae Extract from Quessant in France, a rich source of active silicon that energises skin cells and makes skin feel more supple and hydrated. As the skin’s natural silicon levels diminish with age, this algae plays a central role in keeping skin looking plump and evenly toned.

As with all Clarins foundations, it isn’t just an instantly beautifying formulation – it cares for your skin over time. Infused with a triple action of anti-pollution, antioxidant and UV protection, 100% natural mineral filters along with White Tea extract and Succory Dockcress shield the skin beautifully.

Presented in a 30ml glass bottle complete with pump and finished with the distinctive gold chiseled Clarins cap, Skin Illusion is front and center in my winter/spring beauty dream team. It’s an improbable feat to find my dream foundation so early on in the year, which can only mean the 2011 beauty calendar will keep getting better and better!
