The Future of Eye Care from Avene, Caudalie and Guerlain

They’re collectively described as the new generation of eye creams, so it’s no surprise that these new offerings from Avène, Caudalie and Guerlain have generated masses of press between them. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie to eye care or a seasoned veteran, trying to compare and contrast a product to others in the market can be a daunting thing, especially as eye care innovation moves fast.

Here’s my breakdown of what’s new and innovative about these press darlings..
Avène Ystheal+ Eye Contour 15ml, £16.32
Avène has a brilliant reputation for providing gentle and effective skincare for even the most sensitive of complexions. It’s no surprise that their Ystheal + Eye Contour Gel Cream has been an instant hit – like the rest of the Avène range it contains a big dose of natural spring water, a mineral and vitamin-packed ingredient that keeps the dermis plump, fresh and hydrated naturally. The fluid formulation feels exceptionally cooling going on thanks to its gel-cream consistency, and it never feels heavy.  It also contains antioxidant Vitamin E and cell stabilising ingredients for smooth, bright-looking peepers.

Recommended for: those who need light anti-aging care that is gentle, but will still make a noticeable difference.
Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream 15ml, £45.47
Following Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream’s big win of the Prix d’Excellence award at the Marie Claire Beauty Awards 2010, big things were expected of the the next release, The Eye Cream. In writing the cream sounds stupendous. In reality it exceeded even my high expectations. The Eye Cream provides universal eye care: smoothing, lifting, firming, illuminating and brightening, all in the slick of a garden pea-sized drop of pearlescent, shimmering cream. The reason for the pearlisers is to beautify the area as well as treat it, and the soft focus silvery effect of the cream makes eyes look brighter and more perfected. The finish of this cream also wears very well under make-up, thanks to its super soft sorbet-like consistency.

Recommended for: those who want long-term anti-ageing care with an instant beautifying effect, or those with dark shadows.
Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Eye & Lip 15ml, £102.00
If you’re serious about your anti-ageing, then this new release is definitely the one for you. It was an incredible 10 years in the making, and utilises the natural longevity of Chinese Imperial Orchid blooms to boost the resilience of the skin’s cells. It targets fine lines and wrinkles closely, working to plump, freshen and redensify the area around both the lips and the eyes. It’s a restoring cream that packs a massive anti-ageing punch, combining preventative and reducing actions to help skin to look younger for longer. The decadent texture sinks in surprisingly easily, making the delicate eye and lip skin feel truly cared for and comfortable.

Recommended for: those who want radical effects from their eye cream (and like a touch of luxury!)
