Just Arrived.. All-New Dior Addict Lipsticks

The first ever Dior make-up product was, perhaps unsurprisingly, a lipstick. The slick of colour provided the perfect finish for Christian Dior’s fashions, dressing women’s faces with couture as well as their bodies. Colourful lips have become the Dior trademark, so it was inevitable that the relaunch of the classic Dior Addict lipsticks was going to be a momentous occasion.

The face of the revamped line is Kate Moss, looking as chic and ageless as ever. Although the image of Dior make-up in the past has been one of high octane glamour, this new campaign feels fresh, stripped-back and undoubtedly modern. The accompanying film campaign was shot by Jonas Akerlund (of Lady Gaga’s Telephone music video fame) and is a genius representation of a day in the super-glamorous life of Kate Moss. It’s all at once high-colour energetic and old-school film noir. It’s Dior for a new generation.

The lipstick itself has been reformulated to contain 25% less wax than a classic lipstick, instead utilising an innovative gel that moisturises and plumps lips intensely. It’s truly luxurious with a melting texture that’s just so comfortable and easy to wear. This is combined with ultra-vibrant colour, mirror shine, and an impeccable finish, – it’s Dior’s most covetable lipstick ever.

The new collection draws its inspiration from the distinct styles of Kate Moss to present three separate ranges: Rock Icon, Doll Icon and Glam Icon. Rock Icon is characterised by bright pops of colour, and includes the shade 578 Dior Kiss, the sensual pink worn by Moss in the campaign. Doll Icon is characterised by its almost transparent ethereal nude and pink hues. Glam Icon is all about excessive, old-school glamour – furs, leather and lace.

If you’re lacking a decent lipstick wardrobe (like me), these three ‘attitudes’ make choosing a lipstick for every occasion completely foolproof. I prefer sheer pinky-coral shades for the day, so I’m plumping for 530 Bobo from the Doll Icon collection. I’d also love to try a more adventurous hue for days when I’m feeling a bit more fashion-forward, so the bold and bright pink of 762 Paris from the Rock Icon collection will do nicely. For the evening I’d love a daring plum shade, so the dark and vampy 991 Perfecto shade from the Glam Icon collection is a perfect choice. Completely different shades to take me from the office to the club and back again!
