You can always rely on Vera Wang for a touch of über femininity. Her latest release is Lovestruck, a fragrance targeted at those between girly Princess and grown-up Vera Wang Woman. The scent is absolutely gorgeous: a mix of creaminess and delicate flora, with just enough sweetness to inspire feelings of romance and youthfulness.
The scent opens with a blend of crisp Pink Guava, citrussy Mandarin, and delicate Angelica Flower, a combination that really sparkles. This top accord smells like an exotic juice, refreshing and instantly appealing. It’s not too long before the signature creaminess of the scent makes itself known, with the headiness of Jasmine Sambac and hypnotic Tuberose Buds deepening the sensuality of the scent with their ambery facets. A touch of rare Blue Lotus Blossom creates a powdery floral dimension that sweetens the fragrance just slightly. The base supports this sweet sensuality nicely, with a musk-wood-vanilla accord that adds just the right amount of warmth to the dry down.
The bottle for Lovestruck is a showstopper – with its chunky cut-glass flacon and oversized floral stopper, it’s the perfect mix of functionality and utter romance. The abundance of ribbons and taffeta soften the hard lines and create some drama, making for a supremely dressing table worthy bottle.
Face for the fragrance is the ever lovely Leighton Meester, who embodies a modern day Juliet in her Vera Wang couture gown. The campaign is based on a love story that takes place in downtown New York. Leighton leans over a fire escape waiting for the arrival of her Romeo, “who races towards her with a bouquet of flowers for their Lovestruck moment”. Pretty sweet!
