This Week’s Beauty Hits and Misses

Crystal Lips

Bright lips are everywhere this summer. If you’re craving a neon pop of colour but don’t like the idea of so much pigmentation, opt for one of the many balm-gloss-lipstick hybrids that are out at the moment. My favourite? The subtly tinted Guerlain Shine Automatique Lipstick in 240 Pamplelune, a translucent orange-coral.

Instant Cheekbones

Never underestimate the power of a bronzer in a hue that really suits you. One sweep just underneath the cheekbones will sculpt your face beautifully. If you’re stuck on shades, take a look at the brand new Dior Nude Glow Sun Powder, which comes in six different hues to suit all skin tones.

Fruity Body

In the spirit of the slightly warmer weather, I’ve been opting for gorgeously fruity body washes like the Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate Bath and Shower Gel. It smells so good that I’ve been forgoing perfume and have been slathering on the matching body lotion instead.

Random Breakouts

It’s so hard to predict when you’re skin is going to flare up – but when it does, it doesn’t have to be the end of the world. Manage blemish-prone skin with a flexible routine that works around your skin, not against it. When your skin is bad, use products with salicylic acids, glycolic acid and LHA like Vichy Normaderm Anti Imperfection Hydrating Care. When it is behaving, use milder products.

Intricate Nail Art

I absolutely love nail art, and I’d really love to do it myself but a combination of limited time and limited patience (and short nails) makes it almost impossible. Instead, I’ll be trying this super simple sponge effect as demonstrated over at Allure.

Limited Shade Selections

It’s rubbish when you find a product that you love, but the shade selection is limited. That’s why I’m loving the brand new Bare Minerals Ready Blush, which comes in ten diverse shades ranging from neutral browns to bright pinks.
