Think you need a full-coverage base to cover your problematic skin? Think again. La Roche-Posay’s innovative Effaclar BB Blur has just launched exclusively at Escentual, and it’s taking a completely different approach to boosting skin confidence.
It’s easy to come to the conclusion that more pigment equals better results when it comes to covering up, but not everyone likes the feel (or look) of a heavy base. With this in mind, La Roche-Posay sought to develop a formula that would blur the appearance of unwanted blemishes and pores to create a perfected look, whilst maintaining a feeling of utter lightness.
And so the blurring, oil-absorbing, light coverage mousse Effaclar BB Blur was born!
This understated blurring base packs a big punch in the science department. At the heart of the formula is Aircilium, a seriously impressive series of elastic gel polymers that form a supple and breathable film over the skin. The reason it’s so amazing is its absorbency; Aircilium is able to absorb three times its weight in oil to provide a matte finish that lasts all day. And the most impressive fact of all? Aircilium is used by NASA!
Another core ingredient is Perlite, which works alongside Aircilium as a sort of long-lasting blotting paper. It immediately soaks up sweat and humidity, making that midday excess shine a distant memory. Perlite is five times more powerful than talc and a lot more gentle to sensitive skin, so you can be sure you’ll always look ultra fresh.
And then there are the BB pigments, which have a shade adapting effect to ensure your finish is as natural as possible. Your complexion looks evened out, softer and smoother, with blurred imperfections and fine lines – and all without having to resort to a full coverage foundation.
One of my very favourite things about BB Blur is its texture. That bouncy, feather light mousse is just so easy to work with (blending is a dream), and it’s extremely comfortable to wear. Those who struggle with heavy bases will love just how weightless it feels on the skin, and those who just can’t do without their full coverage finishes will be surprised how evened-out their skin looks.
Once applied, you may find that BB Blur has a different feel to bases that you’ve worn previously. This is thanks to the blurring and mattifying elements of the base, which leave behind a fine, powder-like finish that is reassuring for those who suffer with excess oiliness.
BB Blur is currently available in two shades: Fair/Light, a neutral light shade that is suitable for those with fairer skin, and Light/Medium, which is warmer and deeper for those with a medium skin tone. Although the colour is a little dark straight out of the tube, those colour adaptive pigments mean that a good colour match is easy to achieve. Simply apply and blend with your fingers to warm the formula into the skin, and build up the coverage that you want.
