The complex bloom can be elegant one second, and carnal the next. It’s classic, yet it can feel so fresh and new. Today, a day which just so happens to be National Fragrance Day, I’m celebrating a new entry into the rose hall of fame: Giorgio Armani Si Rose Signature. This couture take on a most revered note is a fantastic interpretation of the complexity of rose, taking the chypre-centric composition of the 2013’s ‘Si’ and transforming it with gentle fruity-floralcy, a heart that bursts with romance, and a paradox of snuggly vanilla and shadowy patchouli in the dry down.

The addition of exotic osmanthus with its apricot undertones perfectly complements the fruitiness of the blackcurrant, introducing a sense of liveliness and movement that is felt throughout the evolution of the fragrance.
In the heart is where you’ll find the serene beauty of the rose. In Si Rose Signature, a combination of sweet rose de mai absolute and voluptuous Turkish rose give the fragrance its character in a plush bouquet that feels all at once familiar, yet opulent thanks to its ever-present darker chypre leanings. In the base, sheer sumptuousness reigns. The cool heat of ambrette absolute and the coziness of vanilla meet with the dark drama of patchouli, ensuring an almost addictive final impression. It’s a masterclass of shadow and light.
