Klorane Aquatic Mint Review

Pollution is the invisible threat your hair is facing every single day. Dust, exhaust fumes, and tobacco smoke are just a few of things wreaking havoc with your tresses and putting your healthy hair dreams at stake. You won’t be able to see it happening, but believe me, after a while, you’ll be able to tell. Pollution particles attack the fibres, scalp and build up, which can lead to damage, dullness, nasty odours, greys, and sometimes even hair loss.

I’ll hold my hands up; protecting my hair against pollution hasn’t always been at the top of my list; I’ve always put the focus on my skin (read more on that here) because the effects are obvious every day – sometimes I can see the soot coming out of my pores! But the reality is, that stuff’s in your hair too, and no matter how many purple shampoos you buy, or Olaplex treatments you have (guilty), if you don’t treat the pollution damage, you’re fighting a losing battle.

So to take my own advice, I adopted a 2-step haircare routine over the last month, specifically dedicated to anti-pollution. The Klorane Aquatic Mint Shampoo and Conditioner have been my weapons of choice, here’s everything you need to know…

Why Klorane Aquatic Mint?

It’s eco-friendly: Not only is 95% of the formula naturally derived and biodegradable, but the ingredients are organically grown. Klorane also uses the technology in this shampoo and conditioner to depollute contaminated waters in the South of France.

It’s powered by mint: Mint’s been used for centuries for its refreshing benefits, but it’s also rich in polyphenols, which have antioxidant and anti-pollution properties. The chosen mint for this innovation is Mentha Aquatic L.

It removes 97% of pollution particles: Aquatic Mint has a powerful detoxing action that rids the hair shafts of pollution particles as well as the metals and minerals found in hard water.

It’s suitable for all hair types: Pollution will affect everyone, wherever you live, and Aquatic Mint can be used by anyone, thanks to its gentle formula that respects the hair and scalp.

Step 1: Anti-Pollution Detox Shampoo

✔️ Removes 97% of pollution particles.

✔️ 95% natural origin ingredients.

✔️ Eliminates impurities.

✔️ 95% biodegradable formula.

✔️ The bottle is made from 50% recycled plastic.

✔️ Lemon, mint and tea scent.

This shampoo left my hair the cleanest it’s ever been; at least it felt that way. The only thing I can compare it to is the way your mouth feels after using mouthwash – fresh, and revitalised!

The hero ingredient, mint is to thank for this; it lifts away all the debris from strands and gives off the most refreshing aroma like a freshly poured mojito. Those with a sensitive scalp needn’t worry either, the formula’s extremely gentle, which I can vouch for – I suffer from dermatitis on my scalp and it didn’t tingle or irritate in the slightest.

After the first use, my hair and scalp fresh without a shadow of a doubt, but it was over the month that I saw the pollution benefits come into play. I was able to go a couple more days in between washes, and my hair straightened and curled better (don’t worry I use heat protectant), which I’m putting down to the fact it’s full of less gunk!

Step 2: Anti-Pollution Protective Conditioner

✔️ 95% natural origin ingredients.

✔️ Detangles and increases shine.

✔️ Creates an anti-pollution shield on hair.

✔️ The tube is made from 25% recycled plastic.

✔️ 95% biodegradable formula.

✔️ Lemon, mint and tea scent.

I only have positive things to say about the Aquatic Mint Conditioner. The formula helps keep my fine hair tangle-free and isn’t too heavy that it ways it down (a problem I have with rich formulas). The scent of the conditioner is much subtler than the shampoo also, which keeps the overall scent on the hair quite subtle.

What sets the conditioner apart from others, though, is the pollution protection it provides. It acts as a shield on every strand (don’t worry, you won’t feel it) to prevent pollutants from sticking to and building up on the scalp and hair. It essentially makes sure that the hard work of the shampoo lasts, and external aggressors don’t get a chance to give you a bad hair day.

The Results

Klorane Aquatic Mint Review

When it comes to anti-pollution haircare, I’m playing the prevention game. Of course, there are instant wins, like the fantastic clean the shampoo provided (a must-have for product junkies) and the de-tangling effect of the conditioner. But, using this routine weekly will make sure I keep the harmful effects of pollution at bay, and I won’t even know it. That’s because as well as riding the hair of pollution whenever I wash it, it’ll shield my mane daily, so pollution and hard water don’t get a chance to cause damage.

Right now my hair feels the healthiest it’s ever been, and hopefully, with Aquatic Mint as my ally that’ll continue!
