As I’ve come to expect from Clarins, these Body Firming formulations are packed with natural ingredients; in fact, the cream features no less than 96% natural ingredients, while the gel is 95% natural.
Both formulas feature the same key actives: organic petasites extract, sustainably sourced from Le Domaine Clarins, and organic mitracarpus extract. In collaboration with the Karolinska Institute, the Clarins Laboratories uncovered the impressive tightening and firming properties of this natural pair to help fight skin slackening. Both products also feature soothing aloe vera to deeply hydrate and comfort the skin, while toning kiwi fruit unlocks a natural radiance.
The formulations then differ slightly; the cream features a nourishing dose of organic shea butter to condition and protect the skin (and add to its luxurious texture), whereas ultra-hydrating organic coconut water laces the gel for additional comfort. To ensure that the gel offers that extra-firming treatment, you’ll also find banana extract here too due to its natural firming abilities.

How Do You Use The Products?
A lot of the time, gel and cream variations are created within a range to offer you different textures to choose from. And while these formulations do offer unique textures, that isn’t their sole purpose; in fact, they are great to use together (although you can use one or the other, if you’d prefer).
To get the most out of this extra-firming body treatment duo, use in the morning and/or evening on clean, dry skin. Apply the Clarins Extra-Firming Gel to targeted areas that need extra firming and smoothing, like the stomach, hips and thighs.
Then, use the body cream on the rest of the body (or all over, if you’d prefer). Start by bringing it to body temperature by gently warming it between your hands to encourage absorption when you apply it. Then, smooth the cream over your skin, starting at the ankles and moving to the upper body before applying from your wrists to your shoulders.
To help encourage a smooth and firmed finish, add extra pressure to areas that are prone to slackening using your fists, focusing particularly on the: stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks and arms. To take the application process to the next level, use upward sweeping movements and work towards the heart to boost circulation.
What’s Special About The Design Of The Range?
Both the Clarins Extra-Firming gel and the cream are housed in large, tall squeeze tubes in the iconic red-and-white Clarins colours. The lids click into place to avoid unwanted leakage, while their squeezable designs allow you to apply directly to specific areas with ease. Plus, their large sizes mean that they’ll last a long time too.
In terms of the sustainability side, both tubs contain recycled plastic and can be popped in the recycling after use. The outer cardboard cartons are sourced from sustainably-managed forests.

Clarins Body Firming Extra-Firming Cream 200ml
This is a great body cream - but I think it would be better described as a smoothing cream rather than a firming cream. The effects are great - skin feels nourished and definitely smoother. Much better than other cheaper products. Would recommend it.
