Lancome Idole Ultra Precise Eye Liner Review

Lancome Lash Idole Ultra Precise Liner has just stepped into the beauty ring, and it’s fully deserving of a heavyweight title.

Lancome are well-known for their expertise in eyes, particularly the iconic Hypnose Mascara (can you believe it launched over 18 years ago?). But there isn’t a cult eyeliner from Lancome I can say I’ve been intrigued by, so now I’m here to kick-start the future icon status of Idole Eyeliner – it’s become indispensable to me and my wobbly hands.

The Most Important Thing About Idole Eyeliner Is…

It doesn’t move. Yes, no budging or transferring. Lancome say it lasts 24 hours plus, but I tried and tested for 10 hours – I could have gone longer, but I don’t want my pillowcases getting messy.

There are so many other amazing factors about this liner that make me really happy and surprised me.

  • The ink is blacker than black – not navy or grey.
  • The nib is a pen, which makes it so easy to use.
  • The nib tip is only 0.1mm which is smaller than a pinhead – you can be precise or go large with it making it so versatile.

What Does It Look Like On?

The finish is a satiny-vinyl black – it has a high-shine finish, but it dries quickly, and that shine locks in, it doesn’t smudge. I found the thinner the line, the more matte the finish; you just need to play around to find your favourite look.

If you prefer matte finishes you could always add a matte shadow on top to take down the shine, but it’s not that noticeable, especially in pictures.

You Will Love This If…

You’re yet to find a black liquid eyeliner that is easy to apply and stays on. I have oily eyelids and this eyeliner didn’t transfer or rub off. If I make mistakes and need to re-do the liner, it doesn’t flake or peel off so I can try again for the perfect wing. At the end of the day when you’re ready to remove the liner, it comes off within 60 seconds with no relentless rubbing necessary! I do recommend a bi-phase formula as the liner is waterproof, it needs the oil to break it down gently. My favourite is Lancome Bi-Facil.

What Does It Feel Like?

The formula glides on and feels like ‘nothing’ – it’s weightless. If you use a lot of the ink, you may feel some wetness but that goes away pretty quickly as it dries.

The actual pen feels weightless, it doesn’t feel as heavy as a pencil to carry and it’s shape is small enough to slip into an everyday sized makeup bag easily.

What Does It Smell Like?

There’s no scent to this eyeliner, which is great as it doesn’t make my eyes stream or water in the wind like most others do.

How Do You Use It?

I’ve been playing around with the Idole Eyeliner for a while now, and there are so many ways to use it. You can create a classic cat eye with gentle pressure – this makes sure you only use the 0.1mm tip for extra precision. Or use more pressure to create a bold, graphic look using more of the tip. If you haven’t got any black eyeshadow, you can also draw all over your lids with it for an opaque black shadow look. It works well to line the waterline for a more feline finish too – I just love it!

Values?

Tested under ophthalmological control.
