Origins Checks and Balances Milky Oil Cleanser + Makeup Melter Review

Origins Checks and Balances Milky Oil Cleanser + Makeup Melter for review

I was excited to put Origins’ Checks and Balances Milky Oil Cleanser to the test as I was having a hormonal acne flare up. I’ve heard so many great things about this cleanser, so I was hopeful it would gently cleanse my face without worsening the breakout. After trying this for one week, I’m glad to say my hopes were met. But I was pleasantly surprised at the skincare benefits I experienced, too…

The Most Important Thing About This Milky Oil Cleanser Is…

This cleanser makes it feel like you’re cleaning your face and taking care of your skin at the same time. The bi-phase formula combines oil and water to gently cleanse your face, removing makeup and dissolving impurities, leaving skin super soft to touch.

What Skin Type Is It For?

This can be used on all skin types. Origins point out that it’s appropriate for oily and sensitive skin, too. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and this cleanser delicately removed my makeup, leaving skin clean, soft and feeling totally refreshed. Insert your copy

You Will Love This If…

You have sensitive, acne-prone skin like mine and you’re looking for a gentle cleanser to remove makeup without aggravating your face. Alternatively, if you’re searching for a lightweight option for a second cleanser in a double cleanse routine, this would be a perfect option. It’s almost weightless, totally gentle and deeply cleansing.

Hero Ingredients:

Origins have labelled this a bi-phase cleanser, meaning it’s double-layered. The first phase is the oil phase, which contains rice & almond oils which help dissolve impurities and melt away makeup. The second phase includes squalane and plant-derived glycerin, which softens the skin.

What Does It Feel Like?

Although it contains oil, this cleanser doesn’t feel oily. It feels like a clear, lightweight, water-based serum when it’s first applied and then once water is added, it turns to a milky formula. I used this to double cleanse first, because

What Does It Smell Like?

Good news for sensitive skin: this has absolutely no fragrance.

How Do You Use The Product?

Shake the bottle well to activate the formula, pour a little out into clean hands and gently smooth onto dry face, lips and eyes. Add warm water and massage into the skin until milky. Rinse clean to remove makeup and impurities. It can be used alone or as the first step in a double-cleansing routine.

What’s Special About The Design?

The opening for the cleanser dispenses droplets of liquid at a time, so that only a small amount is distributed out of the bottle at one time. This allows you to build on the amount you use without going overboard straight away. As an extra level of protection, the screw top lid makes sure that the cleanser is super secure inside the bottle and you’re not able to easily waste any.

Values?

Origins is a vegetarian brand and this cleanser isn’t any different. It’s skin pH friendly, dermatologist tested, ophthalmologist tested and made with 98% naturally-derived ingredients – plus, the bottle is fully recyclable.
