Clarins Multi-Active Range Review

Clarins Multi-Active Range Review

Clarins launched the original version of Multi-Active skincare in 1988. Since then, the range has undergone many reformulations and repacks, but the target audience has always remained the same. Multi-Active is made with busy 30-somethings in mind: people leading intense lifestyles and signs of stress, and the first signs of ageing are showing on their skin. This range is perfect for me as a nearly 31-year-old who just planned a wedding, works full-time, loves to travel, and juggles a jam-packed social life. Here’s my experience and everything you need to know…

The Most Important Thing About This Range Is…

Multi-Active skincare is made for people starting to notice first signs of ageing. Each formula reinforces and repairs the skin’s barrier function and recharges stressed-out skin. The range contains 8 products split into two skin types, all skin types and dry skin types. In the all-skin types line-up, there’s a Day Cream, Day Cream SPF15, Night Cream, Treatment Essence, Emulsion, and Eye Cream. For dry skin, there’s a Day Cream and Night Cream.

Over the years, the collection has undergone reformulations to upgrade its look and results. The latest in 2024 sees new technology, a Skin Charger Complex, added to many of the products.

Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream Before & After

What Skin Concerns Is It For?

It’s a skincare range that helps correct the first signs of ageing, which a stressful lifestyle can accentuate. Clarins has coined this stress-ageing. If you’re unsure if your skin is showing signs of stress ageing, here are the signs to look out for:

• Enlarged pores

• Uneven skin tone

• Dullness

• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Dehydration

• Hollow features

You Will Love This If…

If, when you look in the mirror, you’re starting to notice fine lines and wrinkles, and your complexion doesn’t look as radiant as it did in your twenties, you’ll love Multi-Active products. The range focuses on your skin’s health and keeps it looking youthful. Perhaps you already have a cleanser you trust, and your serums and treatment are pinned down, but you want to add some initial anti-ageing steps to keep signs of ageing at bay.

Clarins Multi-Active Range Ingredients

Hero Ingredients:

Multi-Active formulas are centred on an innovative Skin Charger Complex that combines 2% niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3 and organic sea holly extract. Together, they boost collagen production, provide a smoothing action, improve skin texture and give the skin a youthful glow.

Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream Texture/Smell

What Does Each Product Feel Like?

All Skin Types:

Emulsion: It’s the lightest moisturiser texture in the line-up, like a lotion, super light and fresh on the skin.

Day Cream: This cream is richer than the emulsion but not as moisturising as the option for dry skin. It feels nourishing and leaves skin with a subtle glow.

Day Cream SPF15: You can tell this face cream has SPF in it as the consistency is thicker and takes longer to blend out; that said, it still feels lightweight.

Night Cream: Much richer than the day cream, the night cream has a thicker consistency and leaves a comforting layer of hydration on the skin’s surface.

Treatment Essence: What I call chubby water, this essence has a thick water texture that feels hydrating and cooling.

Eye Cream: This eye treatment has a cream texture that’s lightweight, cooling, and absorbs quickly.

Dry Skin Types:

Day Cream: Super nourishing! This rich day cream takes a little longer to blend into the skin but provides a big dose of hydration.

Night Cream: A level-up from the day cream; this night cream has a creamy consistency that feels hydrating and comforting.

How/When Do You Use The Products?

All Skin Types:

Treatment Essence: Splash this onto your skin straight after cleansing, morning and night.

Day Cream: This is your morning moisturising step; use it after cleansing and applying your serum, but before sunscreen. Apply about the size of a five-pence piece to your face and neck.

Day Cream SPF15: This is the final step in your morning routine; apply it after cleansing and popping on your serum. As this formula has added sunscreen, use more than you would a day cream without SPF to ensure you get enough protection. The suggested amount is 2 full fingers.

Emulsion: This is your morning moisturising step; use it after cleansing and applying your serum, but before sunscreen. Apply about the size of a five-pence piece to your face and neck.

Eye Cream: After serum, apply a pea-sized amount of eye cream to your under-eye area with your ring finger.

Night Cream: This is the final step in your evening routine; apply it after cleansing and popping on your serum. Apply about the size of a five-pence piece to your face and neck.

Dry Skin Types:

Day Cream: This is your morning moisturising step; use it after cleansing and applying your serum, but before sunscreen. Apply about the size of a five-pence piece to your face and neck.

Night Cream: This is the final step in your evening routine; apply it after cleansing and popping on your serum. Apply about the size of a five-pence piece to your face and neck.

Clarins Multi-Active Range PackagingWhat’s Special About The Design?

The Multi-Active range comes in glass bottles and jars, which are weighty and luxurious. I’m usually not a fan of pink, but this range’s colour is gorgeous – it’s a peachy pink that feels more mature. Clarins has deepened the shade of pink used for the night creams, which is helpful – you’ll easily be able to differentiate your day and night cream in your line-up. Sustainability has been considered, too; the product’s cardboard packaging is printed on paper from sustainably managed forests.
