Edgy Spring Colour… Dior’s New Rock Your Nails 2011 Collection

If I’m at a phase where I feel completely out of the loop and have no idea what’s going on trend-wise, Ican always count on a lovely seasonal collection of nail colour to bring the rest of my wardrobe nicely up to speed. Buying myself a really gorgeous nail colour tops up my pampering meter nicely, and there’s no nail colour more pampering than Dior Vernis.

Dior Vernis is one of those nail ranges that is always covetable, whether you plump for a classic shade or an up-to-the-minute catwalk colour. This season’s collection is Rock Your Nails, a sensual range of colours that satisfies my inner grunge queen. As much as I’m liking the fresh, springtime pastels that are everywhere at the moment, I’m craving a little bit of the dark side…

The shades include #887 Purple Mix, a smoky violet hue; #704 Nirvana, a grey-green shade that borders on teal; #804 Perfecto, a slate grey almost-black; #997 Blue Label, an inky midnight blue; and #824 Underground, a smoky brown shade that looks ahead to AW11. Each shade is completely opaque, high-shine, dense and smoky, with not a single trace of glitter or shimmer.

The highlight of the collection is the accompanying Rock Coat, a top coat that covers nails in a smoky veil and darkens them to create a more intense shade. Like the classic Dior Top Coat, Rock Coat extends wear and increases shine – it can also be worn with any other shade.

I’m eyeing up the brilliantly named Nirvana to make up for the lack of blues in my collection, and the Rock Coat is already firmly in my clutches!

Take a closer look at the Dior Rock Your Nails Collection, £16.50 for the Dior Vernis shades and £14.00 for the Rock Coat.
