An ‘icy winter wonderland’ is the theme from Givenchy’s streamlined 2015 Christmas look, Les Nuances Glacees. This capsule edit hits all of the right seasonal notes.
After the gothic black-out of last year’s Folie de Noirs Christmas look, Givenchy takes on on a journey of crisp, minimalist freshness with Les Nuances Glacees. Gone is the kaleidoscope of textured colour, and in its place is a more muted but no less beautiful palette of nudes and bronzes, with a splash of red reserved for the lips. It’s a collection that will appeal to everyone, all wrapped up in packaging that’s the prettiest thing this side of the North Pole.
Making a limited edition appearance as part of the collection is La Palette Glacee, Le Rouge in 320 Rouge Glace (now sold out!), Noir Couture Volume Mascara in 3 Taupe Glace, and Liner Vinyl in 4 Bronze Glace. I have La Palette Glacee and Le Rouge to show you today, so enough of the introductions – let’s explore…
La Palette Glacee
The star product of this well-edited collection is the Givenchy La Palette Glacee Eye Palette, featuring six eyeshadows and two applicators. In a big departure from the norm, Givenchy’s chic black silhouette is swapped for celestial white and finished with a shimmering, textured top that couldn’t be more of the season. As a final embellishment, a signature stud clasp holds the compact closed. Simply gorgeous.
Now, how’s this for a supremely wearable colour harmony? There’s not one shade in this line-up that will go neglected! The six shades featured in the palette are split into two distinct groups, mattes and shimmers, making them ideal for both day and night wear.
On the top row we have a beautiful pearlescent brown, a matte nude-peach that makes the perfect base, and a burnished, pearlescent antique gold. On the bottom row is a matte chocolate, a pearlescent, frosted white and a pretty matte mid brown. It’s not often that seasonal eyeshadow palettes are relevant for year-round wear, but this little wonder really is!
Le Rouge Limited Edition
I’m so sorry to tease as this is now sold out, but I have to show you the the other star product in the collection: the Givenchy Le Rouge Lipstick in 320 Rouge Glace. I can quite comfortably say that this is the lip colour of the season because every time we got a delivery of this gorgeous jewel, it completely sold out! I’m unspeakably jealous if you managed to get your hands on one of these beauties.
The limited edition lipstick is wrapped in a one-off sparkling white case with silver detailing that bears the emblematic Givenchy insignia. Even the bullet is embossed with the iconic Givenchy four G logo. No detail is spared!
320 Rouge Glacee is the perfect winter pinky-red. It’s not your classic, full-bodied ‘Christmas is here’ red, though; this one is a touch more coral, caressing lips with a shade that’s not too cool, not too warm, and completely wearable. As always, the Givenchy Le Rouge texture is delightful to wear. It has an almost opaque satin finish that manages to moisturise and comfort your lips without weight – its second skin-like texture is legendary. If you’re looking for a similar shade in the main Givenchy Le Rouge line, head straight for 305 Rouge Egerie. You won’t be disappointed.
