Do you have fine hair and oily roots? Adding volume to this hair type can be a challenge, as overloading your scalp with the excess product can weigh hair down. I have first-hand experience with this hair type, so I asked Aveda Hair Expert, Ben Stace, to pick out the products best suited to my needs. Here’s what he recommended…
1. Pramasana Scalp Concentrate
We learnt that your hair care routine doesn’t *always* start with shampoo – in Ben’s eyes, the Pramasana Concentrate is the ultimate first step for anyone with greasy, flat hair as it balances sebum and protects against pollution for a cleaner, fresher base. Ben explained the importance of exfoliating your scalp; we should all be using deep pressurising motions to stimulate hair growth and work our shampoo into our hair (you should also double cleanse, too). In short, you should treat shampooing like a mini massage every time you wash.
3. Invati Thickening Conditioner
Fine hair lacking volume is more prone to damage, so the Invati Conditioner adds weightless hydration whilst protecting hair from breakage.
Top Tip: after combing conditioner through your mid-lengths and ends, the leftover residue on your hands should be applied to the scalp – yes, even if you have flat and oily hair!
4. Botanical Repair Leave In Treatment
This treatment repairs damage and prevents future breakage by acting as a natural heat protectant, reducing frizz and keeping hair healthy.
5. Invati Thickening Foam
The Invanti Foam adds volume and shine without making your hair greasy or heavy. Ben applied it all over my hair to add thickness from root to tip – it made it look like extensions had been added! I can confirm that the foam is now essential in my styling routine.
6. Air Control Hairspray
