Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream Dry Skin Review

Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream Dry Skin

If there’s one thing Clarins is great at, it’s offering skincare for everyone. Not only do they have ranges for specific age ranges (Multi-Active for the 30s), but they also ensure each skin type is catered to. As someone with dry skin, I was thrilled to see a version of the Multi-Active Day Cream for this skin type. The anti-ageing ingredients are the same, but you guessed it, the texture is richer for those whose skin needs more hydration. I’ve been testing it this week; here’s how I got on…

You Will Love The Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream If…

If you have dry skin and are a busy 30-something who wants to keep your skin looking healthy and youthful, you’ll love this face cream. It is made with someone burning the candle at both ends in mind – whatever that means for you. Perhaps you’re a new mum who’s always on her feet or a self-employed entrepreneur who struggles with work-life balance. Stress affects everyone in different ways. If you’re unsure if your skin is showing signs of stress ageing, here are signs to look out for:

• Enlarged pores

• Uneven skin tone

• Dullness

• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Dehydration

• Hollow features

What Does It Do?

The Multi-Active Day Cream destresses the skin. It helps your complexion fight against stress and its effects. It’ll provide your skin with the ingredients needed to revitalise how it looks and feels to restore a youthful glow that is more energised, smoother, and hydrated.

The formula also helps to calm your mind – it contains an aroma clinically proven to reduce stress by 20%, so its stress-relieving effects aren’t just for your skin!

How Does It Do It?

New ingredients are one of Clarins’s biggest changes to this range for 2024. It’s been upgraded. The day cream now contains a 97% natural-origin formula, including the Clarins Skin Charger Complex, which includes 2% niacinamide and organic sea holly extract. Together, they boost collagen synthesis, smooth fine lines, improve skin texture and reinforce the skin’s resistance, helping to protect against first signs of ageing.

Also in the moisturiser is energising teasel extract and strawberry tree fruit extract, which helps to improve skin texture and minimise the look of pores.

What Does It Smell And Feel Like?

The day cream has a rich cream texture that feels nourishing on the skin. It’s made for dry types that need a little more moisture than the formula for all skin types gives. Clarins collaborated with a Japanese perfume house with expertise in neurosciences (Takasago) on the formula’s mood-enhancing scent. Clarins Laboratories incorporated relaxing molecules and created exclusive olfactory accords in the Multi-Active range that are clinically proven to reduce stress by 20%.

How Long Does One Bottle Last?

Personally, this day cream would last me between 3 months. A little bit goes a long way. I use about a teaspoon amount every morning.

Best Place and Time To Use It?

It’s a day cream, so use it every morning. Apply after your serum.

Multi-Active Day Cream Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…

If you’ve bought Multi-Active products in the past, you’ll notice a small packaging update. Now, the range comes in beautiful light pink and rose gold packaging. The glass jar feels heavy and luxurious.

Sustainability and Values…

The outer cardboard packaging is printed on paper from sustainably managed forests.

My Overall Experience

I liked the Multi-Active Day Cream, but I LOVE the version for dry skin; it’s much better suited to my eczema-prone skin. I loved that it was very nourishing but not too heavy. Some face creams can make me break out, so finding the right formula is like walking a tightrope. I got a lot of compliments when I added this to my routine; people keep saying my skin looks youthful and glowy, which is always a great confidence boost. I notice that my foundation is looking better and lasting longer, too, which I will put down to this moisturiser. It’s keeping my skin optimally hydrated, smoothing any fine lines I have so my foundation gets a great base to work with.
