When I think brows, I think Benefit. They’re known worldwide for their award-winning eyebrow formulas. They have something for every type of brow, preference and skill level. At the start of 2024, I didn’t foresee a new brow launch from Benefit – nothing was missing, or so I thought. But in February, Benefit unveiled Precisely, My Brow Detailer, a thinner version of the iconic Precisely, My Brow Pencil. As a Precisely stan, I wasn’t sure if this release was needed – Precisely is, well, pretty precise. I took it upon myself to test it out; here’s my review…
You Will Love The Benefit Precisely, My Brow Detailer If…
What sets this eyebrow pencil apart from any other eyebrow pencil out there is its incredibly thin nib (0.8mm). Because of this, you’ll love it if you have patchy brows or areas that lack definition. I found that it easily created hair-like strokes in areas where I have no or very little hair growth.
What Does It Do?
The Precisely, My Brow Detailer creates hair-like microfine lines. It adds precise detail, dimension and depth to your eyebrows. It was easy to use, down to the ultra-fine tip, making it foolproof. If you’re a fan of the original Precisely, you will be able to tell the difference between the two pencils. The detailer is noticeably thinner, and the pigment isn’t as bold, creating a much more natural result.
What Does It Look And Feel Like?
The result is natural – as if you’ve not touched your eyebrows. The formula is creamy-smooth and glides easily over the skin. That said, don’t expect a lot of pigment; the result is very soft and natural, but it can be layered. It feels as if you’re wearing nothing at all on your brows.
How Is It Different To Other Benefit Eyebrow Pencils? Which One Is For Me?
Each of Benefit’s brow pencils offers a different result. Your choice will depend on your eyebrows and the desired result.
Precisely, My Brow Detailer: If you’re happy with your brows overall but need some extra detail, this is a great choice.
Precisely, My Brow Pencil: If your brows lack definition, this is the brow pencil for you. It offers more coverage than the Detailer.
Gimme Brow + Pencil: If your eyebrows are sparse, this is ideal; it helps to build depth and dimension by attaching to existing hairs.
Goof Proof Pencil: Patchy brows? This is Benefit’s most pigmented pencil that fills in eyebrows needing more attention.
How Long Before You Need To Reapply?
It’s extremely long-lasting, so you won’t need to re-apply this eyebrow pencil throughout the day. It’s smudge-proof and waterproof, too, so I think it’s a great choice for travel and the gym.

• 3 warm light brown

How Do You Use Benefit Precisely, My Brow Detailer?
The most important thing to remember when using this brow pencil is to twist with care. It has a very delicate tip that’ll break if you twist it beyond the protective tube. The trick is to keep the pencil in line with the top of the clear protective tubing. Once twisted, apply in light, gentle strokes, then blend with the spoolie brush.
Benefit Precisely, My Brow Detailer Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…
The Detailer Pencil’s design is in keeping with the rest of the Benefit brow collection. It’s silver with bold pink text. As for the pencil itself, Benefit’s gone the extra mile by designing a protective tube to keep the teeny tiny tip safe. It’s also dual-ended with a spoolie brush on the bottom for easy blending. Both ends have a cap perfect for keeping your makeup bag clean.
My Overall Experience
As I mentioned in the introduction, I didn’t foresee this launch from Benefit. I thought their brow line-up had everything covered. Now that I’ve tried the Detailer, I was wrong. It fills a gap – excuse the pun. I enjoyed testing it, and even though the original Precisely Pencil is still my go-to, I think this is the ideal choice for someone with near-perfect brows and needs an eyebrow product to give their brows the finish touches. I also imagine a lot of makeup artists will love this release – the level of precision it offers will make it a must-have in their kit.
