Tom Ford Noir Extreme Eau de Parfum Review

Tom Ford Noir Extreme Eau de Parfum Spray review

As soon as I first tried Noir Extreme ahead of the launch of Tom Ford here at Escentual, I understood straight away why it’s one of their best-sellers. A sophisticated yet sexy fragrance, Noir Extreme Eau de Parfum bursts with a luxurious blend of rich spicy, woody and amber notes. The end result is a fragrance that will make people ask what you’re wearing, so they can go get it for themselves.

And before you ask: no, this isn’t Tom Ford Noir. Extreme has its own scent. Keen to find out exactly what type of scent that is? Keep reading for my full Tom Ford Noir Extreme review…

What Does Noir Extreme Smell Like?

Noir Extreme by Tom Ford is warm and sexy because of the spice, sturdy and long-lasting because of the woods, and utterly luxurious because of its amber notes.

It kickstarts with a handful of spice – you get a premium blend of saffron, cardamom and nutmeg here – which creates an exotic layer of heat without overloading your senses as a bright, tangy hint of mandarin oil and neroli oil somehow keeps the scent feeling fresh.

The heart takes the sense of opulence to the next level. Here, you’ll find a unique Indian kulfi accord, which is inspired by the ancient frozen desserts prepared for the Mughal emperors during the 16th century. Honouring the milky creation that traditionally consists of Himalayan snow combined with pistachio, Tom Ford’s kulfi note adds a touch of coolness to the scent alongside a crisp, milky resinoid. The heart also features a lush, velvety smooth blend of rose, jasmine and orange blossom. Finally, the base warms into a premium blend of sandalwood, amber and vanilla – you’ll often find these notes in the most luxury amber perfumes.

What’s The Story Behind This Scent?

Just like the rest of the line, Noir Extreme reflects the two sides of a man: the refined, perfected man he presents to the world – ideally in an ultra-stylish Tom Ford suit – whilst hinting at the wildness and sensuality hidden beneath. This is the Extreme version, though, so the perfected, conformed side is harder and harder to keep hidden…

This Perfume Smells Similar To:

Of course, there are a few Noir fragrances by Tom Ford that you can compare to Extreme. Wondering what’s the difference between Tom Ford Noir and Extreme? They’re surprisingly different. In my view, one of the main differences is Extreme’s unique Indian kulfi note, which you don’t get in the original. If you like this cool pistachio note, Noir Extreme Parfum will be more up your street than the original Noir as you’ll find that there too (alongside an extra kick of spice, thanks to Shimoga ginger.)

Is Noir Extreme Unisex?

Ever caught yourself wondering, ‘is Noir Extreme feminine?’ You wouldn’t be the only one; it’s a commonly asked question when it comes to this fragrance. Admittedly, Noir Extreme is presented as a fragrance for men, but the thing I love about all Tom Ford fragrances is that they’re worn and enjoyed by all genders – and Tom Ford loves that too. As long as you love it, you should wear it.

What’s The Longevity Like?

As an Eau de Parfum, this will last an average of six hours. However, as it’s packed with warm amber notes, you’ll likely find that it lasts even longer – the amber fragrance family delivers on longevity.

What’s Special About The Bottle?

Smoky black glass, ribbed gold cap, gold print: everything about Noir Extreme is sexy. The thing I love most about the Noir Extreme bottle, though, is the level of attention to detail it showcases. This is something you’ll see throughout every single Tom Ford fragrance and design – detail. For Noir Extreme, this is showcases in its ‘T’ and ‘F’ look. As you can see on the image above, there’s a T-shape; the other side of the bottle has an ‘F’ on it. The reason for the split is to represent the two sides of man: the public and the private.
